Public charging
Public charging, explained.
The E1 uses standard AC Level 2 charging — the same stations electric cars use for overnight top-ups. It does not use DC fast chargers. Here is what you actually need to know before your first charge.
The two things you need to know
Level 2 is a common public standard that runs at 208–240 V. It's the same kind of station most electric cars use for overnight charging. In the US, Level 2 posts use one of two connectors: J1772 (the older rectangular plug you see almost everywhere) andNACS (the newer Tesla-style plug now shared across the industry). The E1 accepts both.
There is a separate category called DC fast charging — the high-power roadside chargers rated in tens or hundreds of kilowatts. The E1 is a Level 2–only vehicle. It does not use DC fast chargers, and it does not need to.
Station reference
Most municipal chargers are free. Many sit empty during working hours, especially in residential blocks. Here is what a full 10 → 80% top-up looks like at the two public Level 2 ratings you'll find in the wild, at a home wall box, and at a plain household outlet.

Charge times cover a 10 → 80% charge window. Calculated including conversion losses; not yet field-measured on a production vehicle. The vehicle charges on standard AC — public Level 2 or a household outlet; it is not compatible with DC fast chargers.
Onboard charger cap
The E1 has an onboard AC charger that maxes out around 5.5 kW. On a 110 V household outlet that cap doesn't matter — the outlet is the bottleneck, which is why the same top-up takes about three times as long. Anything at 240 V hits the cap instead, so a 32 A public post, a 48 A public post and a home Level 2 wall box all land on the same number. Plan around that number; a higher-amp charger will not make your stop shorter, and a home wall box buys you convenience rather than speed.
